Private Christmas Special - Snorkelling and Spa Adventure
Tour Overview
We just entered what we at Aurora Luxury Iceland consider to be the White Season in Iceland. The whole country, including Reykjavik, is about to turn into a snow-covered reality dream in December!
The energy moves towards mountains covered with soft snow blankets, piles of hard show on each side of the road, little slippery road surprises here and there with the constant changes in temperature, cosy street lights, and epic northern lights, creating the perfect conditions for a pure winter magic.
The Christmas Special and the cold and warm water magic is available the week coming up to Christmas, during Christmas and the days until New Years Eve.
This tour gives you the opportunity to explore Iceland underwater, both in the coolness of floating between two continents in the Silfra adventure and the chance to enjoy the snow covered mountain view from the warmth of the wellness spa at Laugarvatn.
Through centuries the ray bread has maintained its status as icelanders favourite bread, in this tour you get to taste and learn why. You will also get to experience farm life, Icelandic style and taste true farm to table local food. This day tour isn’t complete without a stop at Kerið, the beautiful crater lake in Grímsnes.
The tour begins with an early pick up, by your private guide, at your hotel and then head towards the Þingvellir national park for a snorkelling adventure between the two tectonic plates. After a brief stop at the Þingvellir national park you will head to Laugarvatn to learn about the geothermally baked bread in the ground, and to taste some. After that you will go to Efstidalur Farm Restaurant to taste their speciality Skyr Burger and explore a typical Icelandic farm before heading back to Laugarvatn to soak in the Fontana Wellness geothermal spa and natural steam baths. Your last stop of the day will be at Kerið Crater before arriving back at your hotel around 5pm.
If you choose to book with us Northern Lights tour in the evening, we offer you free drop off at the airport when you leave

Tour Itinerary
- Departure from you hotel or accommodation in Reykjavík to Þingvellir
Heading towards Þingvellir National Park for your first experience of the day. You will be snorkelling between the two tectonic plates.
- Tasting and learning about the Icelandic Rye bread tradition
After Þingvellir National Park you will make your way to Laugarvatn to taste and learn about the dark rye bread and see how they bake it in the ground in a hot spot. Every icelander grew up eating the soft, slightly sweet rye bread, either on its own or as a side dish with the Icelandic plokkfiskur-fish or a trout and butter.
- Celebration for the tastebuds
Thereafter you will enjoy some unique skyr-burger at a typical farm to table farm restaurant. Skyr is like a thick greek yoghurt and has been keeping icelanders healthy from the early ages. You will also get to visit the ice cream shop and learn more about icelandic delicacies made from cow’s milk and more.
- Spectacular winter view while soaking away in hot spa and sauna
Your last stop in the area will be a two hour relaxing hot spa with a view over Laugarvatn lake. Where you can relax and let the hot geothermal water make wonders for tired muscles and enjoy the snow covered mountain view at the same time
- The Kerið crater
On your way back you will stop at the beautiful Kerið crater, which will be covered in snow and the lake most likely frozen. Nevertheless, it is a stop worth making as the view from the top is beautiful and the experience of making the gentle hike up to the top is both peaceful and enriching..
