Private Golden Circle Tour with optional extras

Tour Overview

Embark on an exclusive and personalised journey through Iceland’s renowned Golden Circle, a route rich with stunning landscapes and iconic natural wonders. This private tour, lasting approximately 10-11 hours, offers a unique blend of adventure, relaxation, and culinary delights. With convenient pick-up from your hotel or a nearby designated bus stop, your comfort and convenience are prioritised from the moment your journey begins.

Tour Itinerary

The first stop on this Golden Circle tour is at Þingvellir National Park. The birthplace of Icelandic democracy and where the World’s first parliament met in the summer of 930 AD.

Þingvellir National Park has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004. The entrance to Þingvellir is a walk through the Almannagjá Gorge. See visible evidence of plate tectonic activity on the European-American fault line. Which is still today pushing the two continents apart and creating Iceland, geology’s youngest country.

Hot springs at Geysir

Then it is on to Geysir, which has given its name to spouting hot springs. The giant geyser Strokkur will not fail to impress you, so have your camera ready for when it blows, which it does every few minutes. Other geothermal features include fumaroles, mud pools, smaller geysers, and the large but dormant Geysir.

Gullfoss Waterfall

Before heading into the southern highlands, we visit another of our iconic and impressive natural features, Gullfoss. It goes by the Golden Waterfall and carries the meltwater from Langjökull glacier down the Hvítá River. The waterfall has distinct curves, thus adding drama to the powerful display. You can grab something to eat at Gullfoss or Geysir café before we continue driving.

Secret Lagoon

The Secret Lagoon, known locally as Gamla Laugin, is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. It was made in 1891 at Hverahólmi, a geothermal area near Flúðir.

What makes our place special are the rich natural resources of warm water coming from hot springs.

Vaðmálahver, Básahver, or Litli Geysir (active geyser which spouts every few minutes, showing off for the guests), provide 100% of the water supply in the lagoon.

The pool water flows continuously, and it takes only 24 hours to its complete replacement. Warm, clean, rich in sulphur, stays at 38-40 Celsius all year round.

Relaxing and healthy in any weather.

Laugarvatn Fontana Spa & Geothermal Bakery

Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths is located in the centre of the most popular tourist route in Iceland, the Golden Circle. A unique experience of the healing powers of the geothermal springs. Soak in a natural pool, listen to the bubbling hot spring in the steam rooms, or for the venturesome, take a dip in the refreshing lake.

We make the bread following an old recipe, dig it into the warm ground and bake it for 24 hours, then we dig the bread up, and it’s delicious! Come and see for yourself!

Experience geothermal energy first hand and try our geothermal baked bread!

We welcome you all year round to experience our geothermal bakery that starts every day at 11.45 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. from our reception at Laugarvatn Fontana.

The Lava Tunnel

A journey into Raufarhólshellir is a unique experience and a great opportunity to witness the inner workings of a volcanic eruption as one walks in the path of lava that flowed during the Leitahraun eruption, which occurred east of the Bláfjöll mountains about 5200 years ago. Every winter spectacular ice sculptures are formed inside the entrance of the cave making the experience of visiting the lava tunnel even more breathtaking.
